Your Privacy Is Built Into Our Architecture
QRastra doesn't collect, store, or share your data. Not because we say so — because there's no backend to do it.
Introduction
Welcome to QRastra. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our services.
Here's the short version: We don't collect, store, or share any of your data. QRastra is designed to run entirely in your browser, with no server-side processing. Your content never leaves your device.
Summary: QRastra is a browser-based application. All operations — generation, scanning, validation, and export — happen locally on your device. No data is transmitted to any server.
What Data We Collect
We collect absolutely no data from you.
Unlike traditional QR generators that log your links, track your scans, and store your content on their servers, QRastra has no backend infrastructure. Here's what that means in practice:
- No personal information — We never ask for your name, email, or any identifying details.
- No content storage — The QR codes, barcodes, and data you generate are never stored on any server.
- No usage tracking — We don't track which features you use, how many codes you generate, or what URLs you encode.
- No IP logging — Your IP address is never recorded or stored.
- No cookies for tracking — We only use essential cookies for theme preference.
Zero-data architecture: QRastra has no database, no backend servers, and no analytics. Every operation is performed using JavaScript and WebAssembly — entirely in your browser.
How We Process Data
All processing happens locally on your device. Here's how:
- QR Generation: Your content is encoded into a QR code using JavaScript libraries that run entirely in your browser.
- Barcode Generation: Similarly, barcodes are rendered locally using browser-based rendering engines.
-
QR Scanning: When you use the camera or upload an image, the scanning happens using browser APIs (like
getUserMediaandCanvas) — no data is sent to any server. - Validation: QR validation checks are performed locally using client-side logic.
- Export: When you download a code, the file is generated and saved directly from your browser — it never passes through any server.
Key point: Your data is processed in your browser's memory and is gone as soon as you close the page or refresh.
Cookies
QRastra uses minimal cookies. Here's what we use and why:
- Theme Preference: If you enable dark mode, we store this preference in a cookie so the site remembers it on future visits.
- No tracking cookies: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking cookies.
- No advertising cookies: QRastra has no ads, so we don't use any ad-related cookies.
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through your browser settings.
Third-Party Services
QRastra uses the following third-party services, all of which are designed to respect your privacy:
- Google Fonts: We use Google Fonts for typography. Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN, which may log your IP address. We are exploring self-hosting options to eliminate this.
- Font Awesome: We use Font Awesome for icons. Icons are loaded from their CDN, which may log basic usage data.
- QRCode.js: The QR generation library we use is open source and runs entirely in your browser.
Important: No data from QRastra is ever shared with these services — they only serve static assets (fonts, icons).
Data Security
Because QRastra doesn't store any data, there's no database to breach and no server to hack. This is the ultimate security guarantee.
- No data at rest: We don't store anything, so there's nothing to protect from theft.
- No data in transit: Your content never leaves your device, so it can't be intercepted during transmission.
- Local processing: All operations happen in your browser's secure sandbox.
- Open source: Our entire codebase is available on GitHub for independent security audits.
Security by design: The best way to protect data is to never collect it in the first place. That's QRastra's approach.
Your Rights
As a QRastra user, you have the following rights:
- Right to privacy: Your data is never collected, so there's nothing to share or sell.
- Right to control: You decide what to generate and what to download. Nothing is automatic.
- Right to delete: Since we don't store anything, you never need to request deletion.
- Right to audit: Our source code is open — you can inspect exactly what happens in your browser.
If you have any questions about your privacy, you can contact us at privacy@qrastra.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
Since QRastra doesn't collect data, most changes will be minor — clarifications or improvements to transparency.
We will never: Start collecting data, introduce tracking, or share user information. Privacy is our core value, not a marketing tactic.
